Where’s that android SDK located @ so you can start it up and change the required setting.
On OSX Yosemite it’s /Users/<username>/Library/android-sdk-macosx/tools
Just drop to a terminal, change to the above directory and run ./android. Once launched, select manage AVDs from the Tools menu. You will see a list of your AVD emulators. Select the emulator that you want keyboard support for. Click the edit to the right of the list, in the hardware listing click new and add ‘Keyboard support’ if not there and select yes
Restart your AVD and type away on the keyboard.
